Pokémon Ascended Heroes UK: What It Is and Where to Buy (2026 Guide)

Mega Evolution Ascended Heroes is the first special set of the Mega Evolution era and, at 295 cards, the largest English-language Pokémon TCG set ever printed. Released on 30 January 2026, it is still in print, still restocking, and still one of the most searched Pokémon products in the UK.

If you've seen Ascended Heroes trending and assumed it was a new announcement, it isn't: the set has been out since January 2026. Fresh restock waves reaching UK high-street retailers through July have put it back on shelves, and demand appears to be chasing it straight back off them. Here's what the set actually is, what's inside, and how to buy it without overpaying.

What Is Ascended Heroes?

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Ascended Heroes is the first special set of the Mega Evolution series. It released in English on 30 January 2026 after being revealed on 19 November 2025, and at 295 cards (a 217-card main set plus 78 secret rares) it is the largest English-language Pokémon set ever printed.

It is the English adaptation of Japan's first Mega-era high-class pack, MEGA Dream ex (M2a), released 28 November 2025, combined with cards from the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection. That lineage matters: high-class packs are Japan's hit-heavy holiday compilations, and Ascended Heroes inherits the format, mixing new cards with alternate-art reprints from the previous year of Mega Evolution sets.

It also brings several firsts. The new Mega attack rare rarity debuts here: full-art Mega Evolution Pokémon ex in a pop-art style with attack names printed in Japanese katakana, first shown at the 2025 Pokémon World Championships. Two new reverse-holo patterns (a Poké Ball pattern and an Energy pattern) appear, and it is the first international set to carry the J regulation mark.

Set codes and naming

You'll see this set filed several ways. The community numbers it ME2.5, sitting between the mainline Mega Evolution expansions, while marketplaces list it under ME or ASC. None of these is an official printed-on-card set code, so don't worry when listings disagree, they're all the same set.

Key Cards and Chase Pulls

The set carries 13 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and 22 Special Illustration Rares, alongside Trainer's Pokémon, returning Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, and the first Mega Evolutions of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A first partners.

The graded market has already made history here. A BGS Black Label 10 Mega Gengar ex SIR sold for $85,000on eBay on 9 May 2026, the set's record, beating a Black Label 10 Mega Dragonite ex SIR ($51,240) that had held it for only five days. Raw secret-rare Mega Dragonite ex copies were trading around $288 on US marketplaces as of July 2026; secondary prices move quickly, so treat any figure as a snapshot.

Products, Waves and Pull Rates

There is no standard 36-pack booster box for Ascended Heroes, none appears in any published lineup, which is normal for the special-set format. Instead the products rolled out in waves from January to April 2026:

DateProducts
30 January 2026Two-pack blisters, three-pack Tech Sticker Collections
20 February 2026Elite Trainer Box, Pokémon Center ETB (11 packs vs 9), Mini Tins
March 2026Premium Poster Collections and other premium products
24 April 2026Final wave of releases

Six-pack booster bundles and the Erika and Larry special collections sit alongside those waves. On pull rates, independent trackers based on thousands of opened packs reported rates better than usualfor a special set, with community estimates putting Special Illustration Rares around 1 in 100–120 packs. These are tracked estimates, not official odds.

God packs are real, the odds are not official

Ascended Heroes has god packs, all-hit packs where every card is an Illustration Rare or better, confirmed by documented openings. That is a rarity for an English set, inherited from the Japanese high-class pack format. The Pokémon Company has never confirmed god packs or their odds, and community estimates vary widely, so ignore anyone quoting a precise figure as fact.

Is It Worth Buying?

It depends on which kind of buyer you are:

Collectors chasing specific cards

Buy singles. With 78 secret rares in a 295-card set, pulling the exact Gengar or Dragonite you want from packs is a long shot, even with better-than-usual pull rates.

Mega Evolution fans and set collectors

Yes. The largest English set ever printed, a brand-new rarity, and the Z-A first partners' Mega debuts make this a centrepiece release for the Mega Evolution era.

Players

Worth a look rather than a case. It carries the J regulation mark, and the Trainer's Pokémon and Stellar Tera ex cards add playable options, but much of the set is alternate-art reprints, so target singles for your deck.

Sealed speculators

Only at RRP. The set is in print with regular restock waves, so paying scalper premiums now makes little sense. The record graded sales show top-end demand, but sealed upside depends on buying at the right price.
