Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary UK: Everything Confirmed About 30th Celebration (2026 Guide)

Pokémon launched in Japan with Red and Green on 27 February 1996, so 2026 is the franchise's 30th year, and the TCG itself, which debuted in Japan in October 1996, turns 30 right as this set arrives. The celebration set was first teased at the Pokémon Presents on 27 February 2026, Pokémon Day, with a trailer built around iconic cards like Shadowless Base Set Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom TAG TEAM, closing on new opalescent Mew and Mewtwo art and the tagline “The future awaits”.

The full reveal came on 1 June 2026: Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, releasing 16 September 2026. The Pokémon Company International bills it as the first expansion ever to launch simultaneously worldwide on the same day. It is a special all-foil set of roughly 160+ cards, every one carrying the 30th anniversary logo, and it follows the template set by 2021's 25th anniversary set Celebrations, only much larger:

The set sits inside a wider official 30th anniversary programme running all year: a Super Bowl LX advert kicked things off, First Partner Illustration Collections with starter promos across all nine generations run from March to August, and FireRed and LeafGreen arrived on Switch on 27 February. The TCG set is the programme's centrepiece.

Three headline draws are officially confirmed. First, a brand-new rarity called the Futuristic rare: vibrant opalescent full-art cards illustrated by the renowned Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN, debuting on Mewtwo and Mew. It is the first new rarity created for the anniversary and the face of the set's marketing.

Second, a numbered subset of 30 mechanically different Pikachu cards, one guaranteed in every booster pack. Each of the 30 is illustrated by a different artist, including OKACHEKE, Yuu Nishida and Atsuko Nishida, Pikachu's original designer, with distinct holofoil patterns across the subset.

Third, a 30-card Classic Collection of reprints spanning Base Set to the modern day, each carrying an anniversary Pikachu stamp and special holofoil. Base Set Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX from Team Up are officially confirmed; the other 28 have not been officially revealed yet. As with the 2021 Classic Collection, the reprints are not Standard-legal and are only playable where the original prints are legal.

Every card in the set is foil, including basic Energy. Each booster pack contains five foil cards plus a foil basic Energy and a TCG Live code card.

There are no booster boxes for this set. Packs come only inside branded products, rolling out in waves from September to early December 2026:

The top-end products are the two Day & Night Ultra-Premium Collections at $179.99 each, one built around Pikachu ex with Espeon ex, the other with Umbreon ex. Each contains 29 booster packs plus an exclusive Classic Collection booster holding three Classic Collection cards, the only place that bonus booster appears.
