How selling works
- 1
Create a free account
Register with an email address and verify it. There is no subscription and no listing fee for your first 5 cards each month.
- 2
Photograph the card
Take a photo and Packrat's AI identifies the card, fills in the name, set, number and condition, and suggests a price from the Packrat price guide or eBay UK sold prices.
- 3
Confirm and list
Check the details, set your price and shipping, and publish. Listing a card takes seconds rather than minutes of typing.
- 4
Post it when it sells
Buyers pay up front and the money is held securely. Post the card tracked or as a letter depending on value.
- 5
Get paid
Your payout is released once the buyer confirms delivery, to your bank through Stripe, or as Packrat store credit if you would rather skip bank setup.
What it costs
| Where | Seller fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PACKRAT | 5% | 5 fee-free listings a month, no subscription |
| eBay UK | ~12–15% | General audience, fees vary by category |
| Cardmarket | ~5–7% | Priced in euros, cross-border postage to UK buyers |
Third-party fees are indicative and set by those platforms, check their current rates before comparing.
Before you can list
- • A verified email address, so buyers know accounts are real.
- • An account at least 5 days old. It is a fraud check on brand-new accounts, and we email you the moment yours unlocks.
- • No purchase needed, you do not have to buy anything first.
- • A way to get paid: connect a bank account through Stripe, or choose store credit and start listing with no bank setup at all.
Common questions
- What does it cost to sell trading cards on Packrat?
- Every seller gets 5 fee-free listings each month. After that the platform fee is 5% of the sale price. There is no subscription, no listing fee and no monthly minimum. Pro sellers get up to 50 fee-free listings a month.
- How is that different from selling on eBay?
- eBay UK charges roughly 12 to 15% on trading cards once fees are combined. Packrat charges 5%, so more of the sale price reaches you. Packrat is also UK-only and card-specific, so buyers are collectors rather than a general audience, and prices are always in pounds.
- Do I need to have bought something first?
- No. You do not need to have bought anything from the Packrat shop to start selling.
- How soon can I start listing?
- Your account needs to be 5 days old with a verified email address. That short wait is a fraud check on new accounts, and we email you the moment your account unlocks so you do not have to keep checking.
- How do I know I will get paid?
- The buyer pays before you post. Packrat holds the payment and releases it to you once delivery is confirmed, so you are never chasing someone for money after sending a card.
- What can I sell?
- Single cards for Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana, One Piece, Gundam, Dragon Ball Super and League of Legends: Riftbound. Raw or graded, English or Japanese. Bulk lots are supported too.
- Who buys the cards?
- UK collectors browsing the Packrat marketplace, plus buyers who asked to be told when a specific card is listed. Cards are posted within the UK only, so there is no international shipping or customs paperwork to deal with.
