Where to Buy Pokemon Cards in Ireland
Packrat ships Pokemon TCG from our UK warehouse to Ireland on Royal Mail Zone 1 tracked delivery, from £10.30 for singles or £9.30 for sealed.
Quick Answer
Ireland has one of the most active Pokemon TCG communities in Europe but very few dedicated local retailers, most Irish collectors end up buying from UK shops, Amazon, or Cardmarket anyway. Packrat is built specifically for that cross-border case: a real UK sealed shop, fast tracked international shipping, proper buyer protection, and GBP pricing that usually beats EUR retailers on the same product. This guide covers costs, customs, and what to expect.
Why Irish collectors get a better deal
Three reasons Ireland specifically comes out ahead when buying from Packrat:
- Royal Mail Zone 1 rates. Ireland sits in Royal Mail's cheapest international band, alongside France and Germany. Parcels start at £9.30, Large Letter singles at £10.30, and there's no extra zone-based surcharge. The same booster box shipping to Norway or Switzerland costs meaningfully more.
- No dominant Irish TCG retailer. Unlike Germany (Cardmarket), France (MagicBazar), or the Netherlands (Bazaar of Magic), Ireland doesn't have a large-scale domestic TCG specialist. The usual choice is Smyths Toys at RRP, Amazon with variable seller quality, or Cardmarket with its sometimes-slow individual sellers. We're a genuine alternative: real sealed shop, real stock, consistent pricing.
- GBP-to-EUR currency advantage. The pound has been weaker than the euro for years. A Pokemon Elite Trainer Box that costs €55 at an EU retailer typically lands at around £40 at Packrat, which is roughly €47 after conversion, so about 15% cheaper on the same product. Your bank handles the FX at interbank rates, not retail markup.

Shipping to Ireland from our UK warehouse
How Europe shipping works
Every international order leaves our UK warehouse via Royal Mail International Tracked, with end-to-end tracking from the moment we ship until your local courier delivers. We send from our own fulfilment desk, not a third-party drop-ship service, so stock is accurate and dispatch is 1-2 business days.
Shipping to Ireland starts from £10.30 for Large Letter singles and from £9.30 for small parcels. Typical transit is 3-5 business days after dispatch.
- •Weight limit:Royal Mail International caps parcels at 2 kg. Booster boxes ship fine individually; multi-box orders may be split into separate parcels.
- •Tracking: Every order includes a tracking number emailed at dispatch. Expect the first scan within 24 hours.
- •Currency: Checkout is in GBP. Your bank converts at their rate, which is usually better than the Eurozone markups most EU retailers charge.
Irish VAT and An Post handling
About import VAT and customs
Your checkout total covers the item and tracked shipping only. It does not include any import VAT or customs duties your country may charge on entry, because those are set by your own government, not by us. Packages are sent Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), which is standard for cross-border retail and means your local courier collects any duties at or before delivery.
In practice for most orders: your local carrier contacts you with a small payment request before the package is released, you pay it (usually a card link or a cash-on-delivery option), and your parcel arrives. Most countries apply VAT at their standard rate above a minimum threshold; TCG products don't carry extra duties.
For Ireland specifically: An Post handles delivery and will charge Irish VAT on entry for orders above the €150 duty threshold, plus a small handling fee. For smaller orders VAT is usually collected automatically with no courier intervention. The Revenue Commissioners publish the current rates if you want to calculate your landed cost before ordering.
You can always reach us if a package is stuck at customs and we'll help you resolve it. Contact support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we ship to every EU 27 country plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Turkey, 32 destinations in total. Every order goes via Royal Mail International Tracked with end-to-end tracking. If you don't see your country in the table above, contact us before ordering so we can confirm.
Typical end-to-end time is 5-7 business days: 1-2 business days for us to pack and dispatch, then 3-5 business days in transit via Royal Mail's international handover partners. Ireland, France, Germany, and the Netherlands tend to be on the faster side; Greece, Romania, and non-EU destinations (Norway, Switzerland, Turkey) sit at the longer end.
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your destination and parcel weight. As a guide: singles (Large Letter, up to 100g) start from £10.30 flat across Europe. Small parcels start from £8.65 to Germany, £9.30 to Ireland, and slightly higher for Zone 2 and Zone 3 destinations. The country table above shows "from" prices for every supported country.
We ship Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), which means your checkout price does NOT include any import VAT or customs charges your country may apply on entry. Your local carrier contacts you before delivery to collect any duties, usually via a payment link or cash on delivery. TCG products don't carry extra import duties, only standard VAT above your country's low-value threshold. See the "About import VAT and customs" section above for details.
Yes, every international order gets a Royal Mail tracking number emailed at dispatch. Expect the first scan within 24 hours of shipment. After handover to your local courier (An Post in Ireland, DHL/DPD/PostNL/La Poste depending on country), tracking continues through their system. We keep the Royal Mail link in your order history so you always have it.
Checkout is in British pounds (GBP). Your bank or card provider handles the conversion to your local currency at their interbank rate, which is usually better than the in-store Eurozone markups most EU retailers charge. PayPal and Stripe both show the final converted amount before you confirm payment.
Yes. EU consumer rights give you a 14-day right to cancel after delivery for any reason, and we honor that for all European customers. You cover the return postage; we refund the item cost once we've received and inspected the package. If the order was damaged or sent in error we cover the return shipping. See our Returns page for the full process.
A few reasons, depending on what you're buying. First, GBP checkout is often 10-15% cheaper than EUR-denominated EU retailers on the same product, because we price in the weaker currency. Second, we stock Japanese TCG booster boxes at 30-50% below English prices, which are hard to find at EU retailers. Third, our range across 9 TCGs (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, MTG, Lorcana, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Gundam, LoL, Star Wars Unlimited) means one order covers the whole collection, not three separate shops. Royal Mail International Tracked is genuinely quick for most destinations, and you get real buyer protection throughout.
