Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! is the OCG (Official Card Game), and it is a genuinely separate game from the English TCG, not just a translation. The OCG has its own card pool, its own Forbidden and Limited list, and its own release schedule, with new sets landing in Japan months before the equivalent cards reach the West. A Japanese booster pack and the print quality are the draw for collectors: tighter borders, cleaner foil, and exclusive rarities and artwork that never make it into the English print.

Because the banlists differ, Japanese cards are not legal in official English-language UK tournaments, so the OCG is collected and played casually rather than used in ranked events.
